How we handle your information

Highland Sparks Ltd is a company registered in Scotland, number SC714005, with its registered office at 7 Pinewood Place, Tain, Ross-shire IV19 1NS. We are the data controller for the personal information we hold about our customers.

What we collect

When you contact us for a quote or book work, we usually record your name, address, phone number, email, a description of the work, and photographs of the installation where relevant. When we carry out inspection and testing we produce a certificate that includes the site details and the tester's readings.

Why we hold and use your information

We use your personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotations, arrange and carry out electrical work, issue certificates and invoices, and communicate with you about your job.

Our online enquiry form is provided through Google Forms. The information you submit is transferred to Simpro, the system Highland Sparks Ltd uses to manage customer enquiries and jobs. This includes your name, contact details, property address, details of the work required and any additional answers you provide.

We do not sell your personal information. We use service providers, including Google and Simpro, to collect, store and manage information for these purposes. Where necessary for your job, we may also share relevant information with a letting agent, insurer, council or another party acting on your behalf or on your instructions. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.

How long we keep it

Financial records are kept for seven years to meet HMRC rules. Electrical test certificates and site records are kept for at least six years to cover the standard limitation period in Scotland. Marketing emails are only sent to customers we have worked for, and you can ask us to stop at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, or ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it. Email hello@highlandsparks.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Website services and the enquiry form

Our website uses externally hosted services, including fonts from Fontshare and an enquiry form embedded from Google Forms. When you open or use the embedded form, your browser connects to Google’s service.

Google’s handling of information and cookies associated with its service is explained in its own privacy and cookie notices. You can also open the same enquiry form in a separate tab, or contact Highland Sparks Ltd directly by telephone or email if you prefer not to use Google Forms.

Please do not include passwords, payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information in your enquiry.
