Everyday electrical work

Small jobs are a big part of what we do.

You do not need a major renovation to call us. We welcome the everyday electrical jobs that keep your home working as it should.

  • New, replacement and relocated sockets and switches.
  • Light fittings, additional lighting points and dimmers.
  • Electric shower installation and replacement.
  • Kitchen and bathroom electrical work.
  • Outdoor sockets, garden lighting and entrance lighting.
  • Small electrical repairs and fault finding.

We assess the work and explain the scope and costs before starting. Travel and any planned return visits are included in the quotation or explained separately. If additional work is needed, we discuss it with you before proceeding.

What a rewire actually looks like from your side

People imagine a rewire is a house full of dust for a fortnight. It doesn't have to be. Here's how ours run:

  • Site visit first. We walk round with you, room by room. Note every socket, switch, light fitting, and where you'd like new ones. Photograph the current board, the meter position, the earthing arrangement. Ask about how you actually live in the house — where the kettle sits, where the phone charges, whether the kids' rooms need extra outlets.
  • Written quote with a clear scope. Fixed price. What's included. What's not. Timeline. If it can be phased (living areas this month, bedrooms next), we'll price that way so it fits your cashflow.
  • On site. Dust sheets before we start, M-class extraction on anything that kicks up dust, sweep as we go. Tidied at the end of every day. Kettle on when we arrive, off when we leave.
  • Test and cert. Full BS 7671 test at completion. Reports and certificates are provided for the work carried out. Electrical work is carried out in accordance with BS 7671 and applicable Scottish Building Standards.

Most three-bed houses take 5-8 working days. Old stone cottages with awkward walls can take longer — we'll be honest about that in the quote.

The five-year window most homeowners miss

Every EICR is valid for five years. If yours is coming up, get it done in the summer, not two weeks before you list the house for sale. That's when we're least busy and when you have most negotiating room if something needs fixing. Selling in September? Book the EICR in May. Save yourself a scramble.

Same story for consumer units. If yours is a Wylex Standard with black fuse carriers, or a plastic-bodied unit from before 2016, book the change on your terms — not the day before completion when the buyer's surveyor asks about it.
