When Caithness makes sense for you
Being honest with you: if you need a socket moved or a light replaced in Wick and that's the only job, we're not the right call — the travel cost from Tain makes it a poor deal for you and we'd rather tell you that up front. What does work: landlords with multiple properties booked into one trip, STL owners doing annual compliance across two or three lets, a business booking their yearly EICR alongside PAT, a house doing a proper compliance package (EICR + board change + interlinked alarms). Bundled work, the travel dilutes across the invoice and you're paying fair rates.
Wick — mixed housing, some new-build
Wick has a lot of older housing stock, some ex-council terraces, some Victorian villas. Common when we come up: full annual EICRs across a landlord's portfolio, board changes on flats that haven't been touched in decades. There's also a small amount of new-build and extension activity on the outskirts where we can pick up warrant work.
Thurso and the north coast
Thurso has a growing STL market thanks to Dunnet Head, Duncansby, the surf beaches and the NC500 traffic. If you're running a holiday let up there, get the full compliance pack sorted properly — Highland Council are checking. Bundled with a couple of other Thurso lets in one visit, the per-property cost drops sharply — send us the details and we'll quote.
The realistic option
If you're a one-off homeowner in Caithness needing occasional work, we honestly recommend a local Wick or Thurso electrician for day-to-day stuff. Save us for bigger packages — annual compliance, EV charger installations, holiday-let bundles, or the type of specialist compliance work that's harder to source locally. That's where we add value and the travel makes sense.
